ABOUT US
We live in Zionsville, PA, having moved here from Staten Island, NY in 2004.
We have owned bulldogs since 1974, getting our first dog from Betty and
Buster Wilson. We never showed him, but he was known to all who lived in our
neighborhood, even if they didn’t know us. One of his favorite pastimes was
clamming on Fire Island — we had many fine dinners with the clams he
uncovered. He took to water like a fish and disabused us from our notions
that no bulldog could swim. He was active and energetic his whole life.
We have been showing since 1986. Our first show dog, who we purchased, never defeated another dog in competition. But we learned a lot with him. Our later dogs have generally done better in the show ring.
Our first “real” show dog was our foundation bitch, Satuit Rumblin’ Rosie, who we got from Betty Davey. This was followed by our getting DEYDEL STEADFAST HERCULES (Herc), the first dog we finished, from Marge Deyorra. We bought him because we loved his sire and dam and thought his pedigree went well with Rosie’s, not knowing how he would turn out. Understanding what we do today, we wouldn’t recommend doing that, but we were lucky to have both of them.
We began breeding bulldogs in 1989, getting our first litter from Rosie and Herc. Three champions, one a BCA Hall of Fame Top Producer, and a nice bitch resulted from that breeding. We lost Rosie and her entire second litter just before she was to whelp them. We picked up the pieces and eventually purchased a second bitch, Post Hoc Whitney Houston, from Irene and Larry Hansel. Besides Herc and CH. HELFYRE'S ONE HOT NUMBER, who we bought, two dogs we bred have the number of champions to their credit to be Hall of Fame Top Producers, CH RESOLUTE DREADNOUGHT and CH RESOLUTE SONRISE RISIN' STAR.
We are members of the Bulldog Club of America Breeder’s Hall of Fame, having reached the first plateau by breeding more than 25 champions. Currently, we have bred 32 champions and have finished or owned another seven. We have each taught conformation handling classes for the Bulldog Club of New Jersey and for the Staten Island Companion Dog Training Club.
Dorothy is on the Board of the Bulldog Club of America Div. I, Treasurer for the BCA 2008 National Show, and Secretary of the Bulldog Club of New Jersey. She has been President and on the Board of Bulldog Club of New Jersey; and Vice-President of Long Island Bulldog Club.
Julian is currently the Legislative Chair for the Pennsylvania Federation of Dog Clubs and a member of the Governor's Dog Law Advisory Board in Pennsylvania. He has been President, Show Chair, Secretary and a Board member of Bulldog Club of New Jersey; Show Chair for Bulldog Club of America Div. I and Long Island Bulldog Club; President, Vice-President, a Board member, and Assistant Show Chair of the Union County Kennel Club; the Executive Director of New York City Animal Care and Control; and a member of the New York State Bar Association Special Committee on Animals and the Law.
On this site, you can see our current stud dogs and their get, the litters we bred, and the dogs and bitches behind them. All show dogs are compared to the official Standard of Excellence for the Breed in evaluating their show potential. While no dog is perfect, the closer they approach the Standard, the better they are as show dogs. For each significant dog and bitch we have owned or bred, we show their sire and dam, their AKC number and date of birth, their DNA number (where available), a picture, some information about their get or produce, their conformation, and their show record. We also give a 5 generation pedigree. Clicking on any dog in the pedigree will show information we have on that dog, along with a picture, where available. This should give you an idea of what traits are passed down through the generations and where we are headed in our breeding program. This is a “what you see is what you get” WEB site. Look around to find out about our dogs.
This site is constantly being updated with new photos of the ancestors in the pedigrees and of get of the studs and produce of the bitches. If you have photos of any dogs whose photos are missing in the pedigrees, or have a better photo of a dog with his own page, please send me a JPEG so I may show them on the site. You can e-mail the JPEG or GIF or send a photo to scan and be returned to you.
If you own or bred a dog who has a page on this site, please feel free to send additional information about the conformation, show or breeding record of the dog for inclusion on the page. We welcome additional information.
Any comments or suggestions for improvements in our site and requests for additional information about our dogs are welcome.
If you come across any errors or broken links, please let us know.
The following conventions are used in the site listings and pedigrees:
- Dogs or bitches in CAPITALS are BCA HALL OF FAME Top Producers
Each asterisk (*) after a name shows a plateau achieved in the Hall of Fame.
